In-School Activities
Many of our wonderful programs are generously supported by the Kettering PTA!
The Art At Your Fingertips (AAYF) program is a partnership between the Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC) and Kettering Elementary. Each year, PVAC selects original works of art from local artists and trains school parents on how to work with students to recreate the paintings in their classrooms. Students learn about art history, technique, colors, and different mediums for artistic expression. Kettering Elementary is proud to participate in this outstanding program this year.
Ground Ed curriculum provides outdoor garden, science, and sustainability lessons during the school day that support a broad range of CA Content Standards, including Language Arts, Science, History-Social Studies, and Visual Arts. Ground Ed lessons take place in our lovingly cared-for school garden and are led by Ground Ed certified garden educators. Lessons are designed to reinforce what students are learning in the classroom, providing important hands-on experiences in the context of the natural world.

GATE
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) 4th - 5th: Students are placed in GATE classes either through identification to receive services or as a cluster student. GATE Office cluster criteria and recommendations are used to form clusters.
GATE services are implemented by highly qualified GATE certified teachers through the LBUSD. The Kettering GATE team meets regularly on site to collaborate and share how we respond to our students' needs, interests, and abilities. Our services include a differentiated curriculum focused on Acceleration, Depth, Complexity and Novelty as outlined in the LBUSD GATE Approaches to Differentiation for Advanced Learners.
Our team submits a site plan to the GATE Office to annually communicate our curricular and instructional goals for the team.
